“With the world full of so many conflicting energies right now, it feels particularly important to propitiate the Feminine Aspect of the Divine at this time to invoke Her compassionate love for all of Her children. ” ~ Ramloti

Inaugurating the HAVAN KUND:
A Sacred Vedic Fire Ceremony
Sunday, Oct. 30

9:00am – 1:00pm
The morning will include chanting, puja, chandan, the Fire Ceremony at 10:08am and a potluck afterward. This Havan or fire ceremony inaugurates the new havan kund at Sri Mata. After this, Sherry will perform havans on the new moon and on special occasions with all welcome to attend.  By donation.

A Havan is the most ancient and sacred ceremony in the Vedic tradition of Sanatana Dharma.
It is a fire in which forms of the Divine are invoked through the power of mantra and profound spiritual intention. Special offerings are cast into the fire while Sanskrit mantras are chanted, and the combined energy of the fire, offerings, and mantras generates powerful spiritual vibrations that bless and purify everyone present, spreading peace and healing through the world.

The Havan Kund at Sri Mata:

Please dress in your best for this ceremony, dress as though you were going to meet Divinity!  Traditionally, women wear saris (or long-ish dresses, shoulders covered) and men wear Lunghis (just bring a large scarf or shawl or piece of material to wrap around your hips like a skirt) You are meeting the Divine in yourself, and the Divine in others! At the ashram, we all have fun getting dressed and it feels special.

Please feel free to bring flowers to add to the ceremony or fruit… and, of course, food for the potluck.  Bring a rug or cushion to sit comfortably on the ground. Donations will be gratefully accepted.  Coming a little early is recommended. You may come as early as 8:30am to meditate in the studio, enter quietly, please.  A pot-luck lunch will follow.
Om Namah Shivaya!
Jai Ma!
Bhole Baba Ki Jai!

“Everything I find myself doing in the day at the Ashram, I realize Baba showed me how to do it – from morning puja, aarati, havan, to serving, feeding and loving people. And my depth of experience of the Divine Silence and Presence is ever deeper as I practice on a daily basis.

Spiritual practice, when done from the heart, does not become old, repetitive, or hollow – it only becomes deeper – so deep that words are too shallow to try to convey the richness.

There is not a day that goes by at this Ashram that I do not thank Baba and Mother for the great gift to do this practice at Their home.  On the mornings that I walk into Mother’s chambers to bathe and dress Her, I am aware and humbled by the enormous blessing to be able to perform such an intimate service to the Divine. People often ask if I will stay at the Ashram for the rest of my life and my answer is always: “If Mother and Baba allow me to – for it is They, who are actually One, Who call all the shots around here.”
