About Me…
My name is Sherry Summers I am a Senior enrolled in the Bachelor of General Studies degree program with a concentration in Education at the University of South Florida. Currently residing in Sarasota, my passion lies in fostering students’ independent and critical thinking skills, inspiring them to become the best versions of themselves. As a mother of four with several years of experience as a nanny, my love for being around children has naturally extended into my professional pursuits. Seeing children form connections and actively participate in their learning journeys brings me so much joy. My aspiration is to play a role in both their educational and personal development within the school setting.
Currently, I serve as the lead mentor in the "Secret Society of Readers" program, dedicated to students in grades five through seven. This role allows me to build meaningful connections with the students, encouraging them to engage in deeper reading experiences. I enjoy helping them to discover books that capture their interest and push the boundaries of their reading abilities, supporting the growth of their reading skills. My main goal is to instill in children a profound sense of their own value and an understanding of their limitless potential. I enjoy organizing engaging, hands-on activities for my students. Valued for my positivity and optimism, I have the ability to recognize the silver lining in any situation and to identify the hidden potential within every child.
Outside of my professional endeavors, I love the outdoors, reading, hot yoga, and salsa dancing.
