Parent Involvement
Families can get involved in their children’s education by encouraging them to do their schoolwork, having a positive attitude about education at home, volunteering in the classroom or sharing something about their culture with the students in the classroom, and/or attending school events.
When parents are involved, the students do better, they get better grades, better test scores, better attendance, better social skills, better behavior, and they adapt well to school. Students will create invitations to invite their parents/guardians to the open house and other school events. At open house I will have a photo booth to create family portraits for the students and their families. Students will then get to display their family portrait in the classroom as well as one to display at home. It is important for the family to be included in the classroom environment.
My door is always open for parents to come in and talk if there is a concern and they are unable to make it during scheduled conference times.
I will send home a monthly newsletter and keep a weekly blog on my website. The students will also have a planner with a folder for daily assignments and to send any papers home.
