To showcase my critical thinking skills I included the research paper I completed for my Global Studies course. The paper is entitled, "The Link Between Students’ Behavior and School Lunches." To complete this research paper, I conducted an analysis of available research on school lunches, specifically investigating potential unhealthy components and their potential impact on students' behavior and cognition. To accomplish this, I had to research factors influencing the quality of the food served. This involved exploring elements like sugar content, the presence of pesticides and artificial dyes, along with examining the nutrient content of school lunches. The goal was to understand how these components might impact students' behavior and cognitive functioning. I chose this particular artifact to showcase my critical thinking skills because it is shown in the way I synthesized information, analyzed the research findings, and drew meaningful conclusions. I demonstrated advanced critical thinking skills by examining the factors that influence students' behavior and looking for possible connections to school lunches. This artifact shows my ability to analyze and interpret information in a thoughtful manner. The choice of topic reflects my passion for the well-being of children and my desire to understand the connections between nutrition and its possible effects on behavior and cognition in the classroom. I take pride in this work because of the amount of effort invested in researching and presenting a comprehensive exploration of the topic. It also aligns with my passion for creating a positive impact on children's lives. This research paper is a valuable sample for future employers because it highlights my critical thinking skills, research capabilities, and commitment to relevant and impactful topics. It demonstrates my ability to explore complex issues, analyze data, and present well-reasoned findings.
